On the occasion of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
———–
God of all, Creator of all, hear our prayer.
You are blessed by the wild variety of life on this planet—trees, animals, cultures, even the uncountable microbes beneath our feet.
In you there is healing of memory.
In you love and justice run together.
In you there is hope for a future that is not limited by the past.
Today we ask that you mend the relationship between the First Nations of this land and those of us who have come later.
Where land have been stolen and harm has been committed, bring justice.
Where cultures have been demeaned and ways of life overrun, bring renewal.
Where languages have been pushed aside and treaty promises forgotten, bring remembrance.
Where the path forward is unclear, bring guidance.
So that all on this land may flourish in harmony and in a peace that rests on truth.
We pray this in the power of your great and holy Spirit.
Amen.
Thanks Anthony. I posted it under “my story” section on fb. A good and simple prayer, my favourite kind.
